Liverpool Week in Review: Heartache

When Liverpool players and staff woke up on Monday morning, they had one foot in the Champions League quarterfinals, and a winnable Carabao Cup final to look forward to.

However, things did not go as planned.

The Reds crashed out of the UCL on penalties to an excellent PSG side at Anfield, and then followed that up with a lethargic, muted performance against Newcastle on Sunday, losing the Carabao Cup 2-1.

It's the first truly bad week for Arne Slot's men, and Matt and Jonny are here to talk through what it means.

Talking points:

  • Liverpool look tired
  • Why have Endo, Elliott and Chiesa been on the periphery?
  • Why it's ridiculous to blame the PSG tie on the penalty takers
  • Despite these results, the season is still on track
  • Arne Slot making some first year manager mistakes
